New to Crockett

Welcome to Crockett Elementary!

Here are a few things you will need to know.

School Starts at 7:30am
School Ends at 2:50pm

MORNING DROP OFF:  7:00 – 7:30am
Drop off for all grades is at the school cafeteria door located on Shearn Street between Hemphill Street and Henderson Street.  The carpool lane moves from West to East on Shearn Street.  Crockett Faculty are present to assist and keep our children safe.  The cafeteria doors lock at exactly 7:45am.  Late arrivals will need to enter the school through the front office located on Taylor Street between Shearn Street and Crockett Street.  They will be signed in as tardy.

DISMISSAL:  2:50pm
Pre-K – 1st  Walk ups may pickup children from the designated classroom doors located in the small playground (Entrance on Taylor Street North of Main office Entrance).  Please stand in line and give your child’s name and teacher to the faculty person on duty.  Carpool pick up is in front of the school office doors.  The entrance is off of Crockett Street before Taylor Street.  Carpool lane moves from East to West on Crockett Street.
2nd – 5th  Dismissal remains the same as drop off through the Cafeteria door located on Shearn Street between Hemphill Street and Henderson Street.  The carpool lane moves from West to East on Shearn Street.
*If you have more than one child, sibling pick up may be requested through your children’s teachers.  The older sibling will go to the younger sibling’s classroom and wait to be picked up together.

Parents in all grades are welcome to park and walk their children to the cafeteria door! Street Parking is the only option available.  Please do not use the Chick-Fil-A parking lot, you will be towed.  Patrol guards are available at all the street crossings to facilitate safety.  Teachers and staff have priority for the school parking lot.

Breakfast is provided to all students free of charge.  Students should arrive by 7:15am to ensure ample time for breakfast.

Lunch is provided to all students free of charge.  Additional snack foods and treats may be purchased during lunchtime.  Payments can be made in CASH to the HISD Food Services cashier in the cafeteria or online using a credit card at School Café: Please note that there is a five percent convenience fee per transaction.

Feel free to join your Crockett student during his/her lunchtime on Tuesdays and Thursdays only (New) – you can bring lunch or join them while they eat the school lunch. There are designated tables for parents and students.  See your teacher for their specific assigned lunchtime.

Top: Gold Polo, Gold T-shirt, Navy Polo, Navy T-shirt
Shirts with the Crockett Logo may be purchased from the front office.
Crockett Logo shirts are not required.  A Crockett Logo Gold Polo is recommended for Field Trips.
Bottom:  Navy pants, Navy knee length shorts, Navy knee length skirts, Dark Blue denim pants, Dark blue denim knee length shorts, dark blue denim knee length skirts
– Wednesday:  College Shirt Day
– Friday:  PTO $1 Dress Down Day
**This is a PTO fundraiser that takes place every Friday. Uniforms are required on Fridays unless the student wishes to participate in dress down. One dollar is collected from students that wish to participate from 7:00 – 8:00 AM on Fridays by a PTO volunteer as students enter the cafeteria. This is a donation and not a requirement based on the honor system.  Students will not have negative repercussions for not donating.**

Crockett Elementary School Newsletter is distributed to the entire school every week on Tuesday via: Class Dojo
Class or Grade specific information will also be sent out via the communication folders. Class Dojo will be the tool for immediate school wide, grade wide and classroom communications. You will be invited to join Class Dojo by your student’s teachers and we highly encourage you to do so.

The Crockett Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a key support system to our principal, teachers and staff and positively impacts the educational experience for our children. As family members of Crockett Elementary students – you are a member of the PTO!  PTO meetings are open to every Crockett Elementary family and are held the 1st Wednesday of each month at 6pm in the Crockett Elementary Library. A brief overview will be given the 1st Friday of each month at 7:45am in the Crockett Elementary Library.  These meetings are a great way to learn more about what is going on and ways to get involved.

Attending “Coffee With the Principal” is an additional way to learn about the goings on at Crockett and ways you can help.  “Coffee With the Principal” meeting occur the first Friday of the Month at 8:15am in the Crockett Elementary Library.

To be eligible to volunteer at Crockett HISD sponsored events, you must be VIPS approved.  Click on the link and follow the instructions to register online.  Final approval takes 2-3 weeks.  Please keep this in mind if you plan to assist with chaperoning Field Trips.
